How will an e-newsletter benefit your business?

Sending your contacts a regular, relevant and informative e-newsletter will make a positive difference to your business. You might not see the benefits straight away but they will come…

What are the benefits that you will see?

  1. Writing a newsletter gives you a focus for thinking about your business and considering what your products or services can do for your clients. We can all get so caught up with the day-to-day running of our businesses that stepping back and evaluating our ‘offering’ is often very useful. Reminding yourself about the benefits to your own customers will help you to sell more effectively to them.
  2. You can draw people’s attention to special events, offers, new products or services and your latest news, without having to speak to each individual. A newsletter gives the recipient the chance to review the information when it is relevant or when they have time. A newsletter never ‘catches someone’ just as they are dashing off to an appointment!
  3. You can sell to them. I was amazed recently to read a case study which featured a medical products company. This company had always utilised an information-based approach to their e-newsletters, because they felt that their role was to educate and support their customers. However, when they trialled a more sales-orientated approach, featuring promotions and discounts, they found that the response rate rose by up to 90%. This approach might not work for everyone but it’s well worth considering…
  4. People do not always react to your ‘message’ the first time they hear it. There are lots of reasons for this but a major one is that we tend only to absorb information which is relevant to us. Mentioning a product or service to someone once is not enough. E-newsletters offer a cost-effective way of keeping in touch with people and reminding them about your products and services without appearing to be too pushy.
  5. You can keep in contact with people. One of Branch Out’s clients sent a mailing to everyone on the database, letting them know about a price rise. The surprise was the number of people who got in touch and made a booking, simply because the letter reminded them about the company and the service. If you send a, e-newsletter, it gives you a reason to ‘remind’ people who you are on a regular basis.

A further advantage to e-newsletters is that they are very flexible and extremely cost effective. Email newsletters are often quite short too, which makes them much quicker and easier to produce.
